      Topic: "Stories of Courage from Alabama 's Medal of Honor  Recipients" Presenter: John O'Malley
       

           The Medal of Honor is the nation's highest military award. Join us at noon on Thursday, November 20, as John O'Malley presents "Stories of Courage from Alabama 's Medal of Honor Recipients." This ArchiTreats: Food for Thought presentation will be held at the Alabama Department of Archives and History.
           John O'Malley became interested in the Medal of Honor recipients from Alabama while serving on the Alabama Veterans Memorial Foundation board and went on to author Men of Men: Stories of Courage. His presentation is an educational and entertaining overview of the 29 Medal of Honor recipients with ties to Alabama . He will present a short history of the Medal of Honor, which was established during the American Civil War. His book will be available for purchase and a book signing will follow the program.
           John O'Malley is president of Strategic Visions, a business consulting company, and a principle of Law Enforcement Support Systems, a company providing non-tactical training to law enforcement personnel. He is president of First Stop-Second Chance, a non-profit organization serving previously incarcerated persons re-entering society. Mr. O'Malley served in the Marines, is a Vietnam veteran, as well as a nationally known author, business consultant, motivational speaker, trainer, and historian. He resides in Birmingham , Alabama .
           This ArchiTreats presentation is one in a series of monthly third-Thursday free lectures presented by the Alabama Department of Archives and History. The public is invited to bring a sack lunch and enjoy a bit of Alabama history. Coffee and tea will be provided by the Friends of the Alabama Archives.
