Bookmark Contest winners to be announced
October 14, 2008
Five winning designs from over 900 fourth grade students' entries will be announced on October 14. The winning designs will be printed on bookmarks and given away at ADAH during 2009 The Year of Alabama History. For more information click here.

Celebrate Alabama Archives Week
October 11 - 18
October is American Archives Month. The Alabama Department of Archives and History (ADAH) invites the public to celebrate Alabama Archives Week, October 11-18, 2008, to learn more about Alabama history and the role of archives in preserving and promoting history.
Highlights of the week include:

· Mark Your Place in History bookmark contest

Treasures From the Archives Vaults
Archives Week activities will continue on Thursday, October 16, from 12:05 to 12:50 with the monthly ArchiTreat's presentation, Treasures From the Archives Vaults. The program will feature Archives staff members Dr. Ed Bridges, Dr. Mike Breedlove, Mr. Bob Cason, and Ms. Cynthia Luckie, discussing some of their favorite artifacts and records from the Archives collections. Museum Make and Take in the Hands-On Gallery
Native American ~ Bead Necklaces
Make a bead necklace and learn about Native American jewelry. Museum Make and Take is a new activity series in the Hands-On Gallery. Native American Bead Necklaces will continue through the month of October.
