      "IMPRINTING THE SOUTH: IMAGES OF THE SOUTH IN PRINTS OF THE
      1920S-1940S"

      Sponsored by the Auburn University Libraries, the Caroline Marshall
      Draughon Center for the Arts & Humanities in the College of Library
      Arts, and the AU Bookstore. Refreshments will follow the program.
      Books will be available for purchase and signing. For more information,

      The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the
      GROUND FLOOR of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.


      LIBRARY EXHIBIT HONORS TWO WWII VETS

      The three upright glass exhibit cases located on the north side of
      the Special Collections and Archives Department feature materials
      honoring two World War II Auburn Marines: Eugene B. Sledge (1923-2001)
      and Jack Simms (1926- ). Both veterans fought in the Pacific Theatre
      during World War II. Sledge published a memoir about his experiences,
      WITH THE OLD BREED AT PELELIU. Simms fought in the Battle of Iwo Jima
      and gave a lecture about his experiences on October 10, 2007.

      The exhibit features numerous photographs, maps, newspapers, and
      other items including illustrated cigarette papers, books, and plaques.

      The Eugene B. Sledge Collection can also be viewed online at the
      Auburn University Digital Library Collections web site (
      http://diglib.auburn.edu/browse.html ).

      The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the
      GROUND FLOOR of the Ralph Brown Draughon Library.


      LIBRARY EXHIBIT ON AMERICAN ARCHIVES MONTH

      Located in the five flat glass display cases on the east side of the
      Special Collections and Archives Department is an exhibit on *AMERICAN
      ARCHIVES MONTH: CELEBRATING THE AMERICAN RECORD.*

      The exhibit includes information on the life cycle of archival
      records, a glossary of terms, and examples of archival materials such as
      ephemera including postcards and pamphlets; archival supplies such as
      document cleaning pads and latex gloves; photographs and negatives; and
      artifacts including flint Indian arrowheads and a brick from Broun
      Hall.

      The Special Collections and Archives Department is located on the
