Subscribers of a certain age may remember from their youth the days of
thrilling yesteryear when The Lone Ranger, The Shadow, Dr. Kildare, and
so many more stories came from that big funny box, not the television
but a radio...others [like yours truly, ahem] may have discovered these
cultural riches via cassette tapes, CDs, or MP3 downloads...

What is fondly remembered as "old-time" radio programming lasted from
the 1920s until about 1960...some actors, singers, etc., with Alabama
connections were involved in this programming and you will find a list
of them below...this list is maintained by Ron Sayles as part of his
larger database documenting the participants in old-time radio and he
has graciously allow me to distribute it to alabamahistory
      subscribers...

An interesting Wikipedia page on this "golden age" of radio can be found
      at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old-time_radio

A link to Mr. Sayles' "BIRTH/DEATHS OF RADIO PERSONALITIES" listings,
now with some 5,947 records, is below...
