      **Historical Society to meet Sunday [November 26]
      The Clarke County Historical Society will meet Sunday, Nov. 26 at 2:30
      p.m. at the Grove Hill Town Hall. Mrs. Jackie Matte, an independent
      scholar with the Alabama Humanities Foundation's speaker's bureau, will
      present the program entitled, "A Little Known Episode of Alabama's
      History: "The imprisonment of Geronimo and the Apaches, Mount Vernon,
      Alabama 1887-1894." Geronimo was the leader of the last American Indian
      fighting force formally to capitulate to the United States. He was held
      at Mount Vernon from 1887 to 1894. The presentation will include slides
      made from photographs taken during his time in Alabama.
