      Thursday, October 19, 2006 at 8:00PM
The 20 minute documentary, Thornton Dial, examines the extraordinary
life and work of this 77-year-old contemporary artist from Bessemer,
Alabama. Born in Emelle - in the heart of the Black Belt-Dial is a
former migrant farmer and steel worker who neither reads nor writes, and
has never formally trained as an artist. Yet art critics call him
      genius.

Voice Of Justice & Reason: Buford Boone's Tuscaloosa News
Times this episode will air on APT:
      Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 12:30PM
Buford Boone's controversial editorials in the Tuscaloosa News
ostracized him from many townspeople but won him the Pulitzer Prize in
1957. His courageous calls for law and order branded him as an
integrationist, but he wouldn't back down to the Klan or the White
Citizen's Council. A fascinating story about a community newspaper
speaking out against local popular opinion and in support of the court
ordered integration of the Univ. of AL in 1956. (CC)

      **Discovering Alabama: Fort Morgan
Times this episode will air on APT:
      Sunday, October 22, 2006 at 1:00PM
Visit historic Fort Morgan and witness an active archaeological dig,
take a trek through an ancient maritime forest and witness the capture,
banding, and release of migratory birds. Dr. Phillips talks to local
residents in presenting the past and considering the future of Fort
Morgan Peninsula, one of Alabama's best coastal wonders.
