      **Birmingham Public Library's Brown Bag Lunch Series.
      At noon every Wednesday, the main branch of the library near Linn Park
      offers a free program. Visitors bring their own lunch, and the library
      provides a free beverage. No reservations are required for the events.

      Sept. 6: Ken Elkins, a photographer for The Anniston Star and The
      Huntsville Times, will share his pictorial history of the state's people
      and places.

      Sept. 13: Birmingham attorney and historian Jim Noles will tell about
      the USS Birmingham, a World War II cruiser that survived attacks from
      torpedoes and suicide planes.
