      An Alabama Songbook: A Celebration

      Tuesday November 9, 2004
      4:30 - 6:30 pm
      at the W.S. Hoole Special Collections Library, 2nd Floor Mary Harmon
      The University of Alabama

      Dr. Robert Halli will speak about his work on An Alabama Songbook (UA
      2004), and Flying Jenny, an old time string band out of Birmingham,
      will play tunes from the book and from their own repertoire.

      Copies of An Alabama Songbook will be on sale and available for signing.

      An exhibition of materials from the Byron Arnold Collection, the source
      this work, will be on display.

      The event will begin at 4:30 p.m. with refreshments, and an opportunity
      see the exhibition, meet Halli, purchase a book, and listen and meet
      Jenny. At 5:15 p.m., Halli will speak about his work on the book and
      questions, followed by a performance of Alabama folksongs by Flying
      There will be ample opportunity to ask questions and sing along.
      Refreshments will be served.
