      BEAMGUARD, Elizabeth Parks, died quietly at her home in Montgomery, AL
      on Saturday, July 19, 2003. Mrs. Beamguard was born in Fayetteville, TN
      in 1908. She receive her B.A. degree from the University of Tennessee
      at Knoxville and her Masters in Library Science from Emory University
      in Atlanta. She was Director of the Madison-Jackson County Regional
      Library in Huntsville, AL until she moved to Montgomery in 1955. She
      started with the Alabama State Library Service as a field
      representative and eventually became the Director of the Alabama State
      Library for many years before her retirement in 1974. She was very
      active in community work and was a former President of Zonta
      International and AAUW. She was also active with MACOA after her
      retirement from the state. She is survived by a daughter, Elizabeth
      Swanson, and a granddaughter, Susan Swanson, both of San Francisco, CA.
      There will be a visitation at Leak-Memory Chapel on Tuesday, July 22,
      2003 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held on
      Wednesday, July 23, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church,
      1705 Taylor Rd., with a reception at the church immediately following
      the service. Burial will be on Thursday, July 24, 2003 at 2:30 p.m.
      from the Rose Hill Cemetery in Fayetteville, TN. Memorial contributions
      may be made to the Montgomery Area Council on Aging. Leak-Memory Chapel
