      ------------

During the first quarter of 2003 the ADAH Government Records Division has
been busily cataloging and updating numerous government records series to
      make them more accessible.

Before cataloging series, agencies have to be documented. For that reason
the following gubernatorial and agency histories were created: Governor
(1999-2003 : Siegelman). Gubernatorial history record, with all of the
others being agency histories -- United States. District of Alabama. Alabama
Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board. Board of Dental Scholarship Awards, Board of
Medical Scholarship Awards, Board of Optometric Scholarship Awards, Child
Abuse and Neglect Prevention Board, Board of Athletic Trainers. Agency
history record, State Board of Chiropractic Examiners, Board of Examiners
for Dietetics/Nutrition Practice, Board of Dental Examiners, Regional
Planning and Development Commissions, and Foreign Trade Relations
      Commission.

The number one priority for cataloging has been the records of Alabama's
immediate past Governor, Don Siegelman. The series cataloged from January to
March include Governor (1999-2003 : Siegelman) Administrative files of the
Office of Constituent Affairs, 1999-2003, one hundred eleven (111) cubic

Also cataloged were records of Fob James. Series cataloged include Governor
(1995-1999: James.) News clippings of the Press Office, 1980-1999, thirty
three (33) cubic ft.; and Videocassettes in the Press Office, 1990-1997 and
      n.d., two (2) cubic ft., SG023977 - SG023978. A small but important group of
gubernatorial records were cataloged as United States. District of Alabama.
Administrative files, 1865-1868, two (2) cubic ft. These are the records
created when Wager Swayne was head of the Freedman's Bureau and Military
      Governor of Alabama.

The records of the Lieutenant Governor, Steve Windom were transmitted and
cataloged as well. These include Lieutenant Governor (1999-2003 : Windom)
Administrative files, 1999-2003, sixteen (16) cubic ft.; Constituent
correspondence, 1999-2003, twelve (12) cubic ft.; and Clipping files,
      1999-2003, ten (10) cubic ft.
