      in African American Genealogy & Research Saturday, March 2, 2002,

      Bldg, 3rd Floor Auditorium, 2100 Park Place, Birmingham, Alabama.
      Topics include Introduction to African American Research, extensive
      researching of Census Records and Vital Records. Meet others who are

      Subject: ASSOCIATION OF BLACK GENEALOGISTS OF ALABAMA

      This non-profit group based in Birmingham, Alabama and founded by
      Mary L. Jones, Historian, Researcher, and Lecturer. This group is
      dedicated to the preservation of rural Slave and African American
      cemeteries throughout Alabama. This group is also working in
      conjuction with the Black Heritage Council in Montgomery in trying to
      preserve Black heritage and its memorabilia. The group is currently
      working to clean up and preserve three cemeteries (Slave/African
      American) that have been abandoned in Faunsdale and Demopolis
      (Marengo County), Alabama.

      If you know of any Slave or African Ameican Cemeteries that have been
      neglected and is in need of cleaning and preserving, please submit
      cemetery name, location, (County), City and State to:
