      Thursday on The Alabama Experience:

      With Fingers of Love --
      8:00-8:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 18 and 1:30-2:00 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 21 on
      Alabama Public Television

In 1966, a group of black women from Wilcox County, Alabama, stirred by
their involvement in the Civil Rights Movement, founded a quilting
cooperative to provide some desperately needed cash income for their
families. The Freedom Quilting Bee not only raised living standards for its
members, but is credited with igniting nationwide interest in the art of
quilting and inspiring numerous other cooperatives. Through archival
materials, colorful quilts, and interviews with past and current members,
"With Fingers of Love" evokes the accomplishments of this remarkable
organization and its ongoing struggle to survive. An online study guide is
available for this program at http://www.alabamatv.org/fingers.htm.

The Alabama Experience is produced by The University of Alabama Center for
      Public Television (http://www.alabamatv.org).
