This talk has already taken place, but if the topic interests you I'm sure Ms. Cauthen would welcome an inquiry....

To those of you who live in or around Montgomery, I'd like to invite you to the Archives tomorrow where I'll be speaking on "History through the eyes of a Backwoodsman: The Writings of Fiddling Tom Freeman."  This talk is one I give for the Alabama Humanities Foundation's speakers bureau, and it concerns an unpublished manuscript written in 1942 by the colorful fiddler and former moonshiner Tom Freeman, born 1883.  Freeman tells us much about pioneer life in the hills and valleys (now under Smith Lake) of Western Cullman County.  The talk starts at noon and you are welcome to eat lunch during the program.
