Brooks Blevins at Pebble Hill
- Brooks Blevins will speak at the AU Center for Arts and Humanities (Pebble
Hill, 101 DeBardeleben, Auburn) on Tuesday, February 16, at 4:00 about his
recently published book "Cattle in the Cotton Fields: A History of Cattle
Raising in Alabama" (University of Alabama Press, 1998).
A reception will follow.
Call 844-4946 for further information.
(Brooks, as some of you know, is a doctoral candidate in Southern/American
history in the AU Department of History. While writing his dissertation
under the direction of Wayne Flynt, Brooks wrote "Cattle in the Cotton
Fields" in his "spare time." This scholarly treatment of the cattle
industry will be regarded as a major contribution to the historic role of
the cattle industry in Alabama's economy and society.
At noon, Monday, February 15, Brooks will be speaking at the B.B. Comer
Library in Sylacauga in the library's Reflections series on Alabama history.)
