FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Sequel to Best-selling Southern Saga to be Published in September
Montgomery, Alabama - NewSouth is pleased to announce the return of the
southern voice of Charlotte Miller in her new novel, Through a Glass,
Darkly. Following the sell-out of her first novel, Behold, This
Dreamer, and a successful nine-month tour across the Southeast, Miller
continues to tell the story of Janson Sanders and his dream.
Sanders--the part Cherokee, part white farmer in search of his dream to
buy back the land once stolen from him--moves back to his home county in
Alabama, empty-handed and with no immediate hope of reclaiming his
land. Forced to leave the farm of his new wife's wealthy, unforgiving
father, Janson discovers that his land-owning dreams are pushed to the
side as he becomes a husband and a father. Janson will do anything to
support his family, even work for the man who killed his father. His
wife, Elise, stands firmly by his side in the face of death, hatred, and
the Depression. Janson's stubborn pride still remains, but, in Through
a Glass, Darkly, his love for his family takes precedence.
Charlotte Miller's first novel, Behold, This Dreamer, received
the praise of several well-known novelists, like Melinda Haynes, the
author of Mother of Pearl, an Oprah Book Club® selection, who said that
Miller "has illuminated a dark corner of the American South with
remarkable grace and beauty." Novelist Robert Inman said, "First-time
novelists just aren't supposed to be able to do things like this." Sena
Jeter Naslund, author of Ahab's Wife, added: "You'll stay up late
turning the pages of this suspenseful and inspiring tale. Charlotte
Miller has created a world rich in period-piece details."
Charlotte Miller, native Alabamian, began writing Behold, This Dreamer
while a student at Auburn University. Today, she works as a certified
public accountant and is presently working on her third novel, which
will complete the trilogy begun with Behold, This Dreamer. She is a
member of the Alabama Writers Forum and Creative Writers of Montgomery,
and is a member of and the historian for the Alabama Writers Conclave.
She lives in Opelika, Alabama and has a son, Justin, age eleven.
Through a Glass, Darkly will be available in September at local
bookstores, through on-line retailers, or directly from NewSouth Books
at 334-834-3556. ISBN# 1-58838-054-8. Retail price is $27.95
