      CALL FOR PAPERS

*The Houston Review: History and Culture of the Gulf Coast*

For a special issue devoted to women in Houston and the Gulf Coast, *The
Houston Review* is seeking articles on all topics that explore women's
history, literature, and art in the Houston area and the Gulf Coast.

Articles may focus on any period, and we welcome especially studies of the
experience and influence of minority women and the variety of ethnic groups
that have comprised the history of this area.

Three copies of manuscripts should be submitted in double-spaced typescript
prepared according to The Chicago Manual of Style (University of Chicago
Press). Since articles will be evaluated anonymously, the author's name
should appear only on the title page.

Due date for submissions is November 30, 2001.

Send submissions to: The Houston Review / Joe Pratt, Editor / Department of
History / University of Houston / Houston TX 77204-3785

Address queries about this issue to: Audrey Crawford / acrawford2@... /
