Forty years ago last month, a small group of civil rights workers left New
York City on a Greyhound bus, headed for New Orleans, to desegregate
public accommodations. Outside of Anniston, tragedy struck the riders as
they were attacked and beaten and the bus burned by an angry mob. Now the
"Freedom Riders" have once again boarded a bus to make the trip to the
South and commemorate their part in the historic civil rights movement.
For The Record's Eddie Rollins followed the members on their trip through

      Cover Story
This week's "Cover Story" examines water conservation across the state.
As the summer heat comes so does water usage and state officials are
looking for ways to conserve water resources in case there is a drought
situation like last summer. Alabama@Work looks at this issue in-depth.

      Alabama's Own
Chris Newbold visits Woerner Turf Company in Baldwin County. Sod is a big
cash crop for this agriculturally rich county and Alabama's Own looks at
the secrets behind this literally homegrown Alabama business.

      Bottom Line
This week's "Bottom Line" segment looks at some of the best chefs in
Alabama. Their world famous cuisine is getting rave reviews all over the
world. Alabama@Work looks at these Alabama chefs and how they made it to
the top of the culinary world.

      Your Money
"Your Money" this week looks at fuel economy. The summer travel season in
full force, but what can you do to cut down on the high price of gas?
Your Money and the Alabama Automobile Association offer suggestions to
help squeeze every mile possible out of a gallon of gas.
