328Updates, Apr. 12, 2004
- Apr 12, 2004Greetings from Amsterdam, home of Apologetics Index!
First, we are happy to report that our news site, ReligionNewsBlog.com, is up and running. The site was too popular for our former web host, and we have had to move it to another server and a more robust (and more expensive) hosting solution. We are thankful to everyone who has sent us a donation in support of this move. You can reach Religion News Blog (RNB) at its usual address: http://www.religionnewsblog.com
Speaking of support, we are planning to add a small graphic (something like a 'donation themometer') to Apologetics Index and Religion News Blog to show where we're at in terms of expenses vs. donations.
While the RNB site has moved to a new host, Apologetics Index (AI) is still served by its current host. However, the host has informed us that at the current traffic rates, we will have used up our allocated bandwidth before the end of the month. We're taking some steps that may bring a temporary reprieve, and - if donations warrant doing so, may be able to purchase additional bandwidth - but its looks like we will soon have to move AI to a more expensive hosting solution as well. (Our current hosting package is $7.95/month, while the new package - currently used by Religion News Blog - runs at $44.95/month).
The planned design changes for AI have been pushed back till later in the year, as some of these changes will require a more robust MySQL dataserver than our current host is able to provide.
That said, we're still updating the site, and for some of the new entries we're already using a version of the new design (which has been well-received).
Our latest updates are:
Peter Jennings, Jesus and Paul
On April 5, 2004, the American television network ABC broadcast "Jesus and Paul - The Word and the Witness" - a three-hour prime time special in which Peter Jennings looked at the story of Jesus of Nazareth, Paul the Apostle and Christianity in its first decades. Apologetics Index presents a number of research resources on the topic, including a segment-by-segment review by Christian apologist Robert M. Bowman, Jr.
The Da Vinci Code: The Facts Behind The Fiction
It appears that Dan Brown hopes readers of his bestseller, The Da Vinci Code, will accept his fiction as fact. Therefore, Bob Waldrep takes a look at the facts behind the fiction. See also these other research resources on the subject.
As always, should you have any questions, comments or concerns, please feel free to contact us:
Also, should you visit Amsterdam this year, let us know. We'd love to meet with you!
