2nd April 1998, Oxford, UK.
StatSci Europe are holding an introductory S+SpatialStats course in Oxford on the 2nd April 1998. This one day course is aimed at people interested in evaluating the potential of S-PLUS and
S+SpatialStats for spatial data analysis. We will also include a demo of S+ArcView!
S+SpatialStats is an add-on module for S-PLUS, the most powerful data analysis software available today. S-PLUS is based on the object-oriented S Language, developed by AT&T Bell Laboratories
specifically for analysing scientific and technical data. With nearly 2000 built-in functions and the flexibility of a programming language, S-PLUS offers the user a unrivalled, modern,
comprehensive environment for data analysis. S-PLUS 4.0 now has a user friendly, customisable Graphical User Interface
The S+SpatialStats course will begin with a brief introduction to S-PLUS before moving on to spatial data analysis techniques. The course will cover topics such as Exploratory Data Analysis, Analysing
Geostatistical Data, Analysing Lattice Data and Analysing Spatial Point Patterns. A PC will be provided for sole use by each delegate, giving ample opportunity to work through a number of spatial
data analysis examples. All delegates will receive a copy of the S+SpatialStats Users Manual as well as training materials used on the course.
For more information on S+SpatialStats, access our WWW pages which give further details on S+SpatialStats, including some of the examples which will be covered on the course:
The course will also include a demo of S+ArcView, which is currently under beta testing and expected for full release in Feb/March 1998.
