Call for Papers for the workshop

      Intelligent Methods in Environmental Protection:
Special Aspects of Processing in Space and Time

      The 13. International Symposium of
      Computer Science for Environmental Protection
      30.08.-01.09.1999
      Magdeburg, Germany

Organisation: A. Fick (Karlsruhe), H. Keller (Karlsruhe), H. Pundt (Mnster),
      K.C. Ranze (Bremen), U. Visser(Bremen)

The goal of this workshop is to strengthen and expand professional
knowledge exchange for development and application of intelligent
technologies in the areas of environmental protection, environmental
research and environmental planning. The workshop will focus on a wide
contention including the problem areas of: collection, representation,
processing and display of time and space dependent environmental data.

Discussions within the theoretical and application oriented approaches
are vital and therefore, contributions focused on actual research topics
not representing finished research projects are acceptable and welcome.

Scientists and users will have the opportunity to discuss new
developments, innovative implementations and new ideas. The character
of a workshop will stand in the foreground.

      Topics:
Contributions to the following topics are welcome:

      - innovative and intelligent multi-sensor systems
      - collection of distributed information with the help of sensor networks
      - analysis of space, time, continuous and discrete time series
      - intelligent representation and processing of spatial information
      - combination of visual GIS-tools and knowledge based technologies, decision
      supported GIS
      - mobile computers as additional tools for intelligent systems

      Contribution and deadlines:
The workshop will consist of numerous contributions, presented in 15min
time slots followed by a 15min discussion. Contributions can be as long
as (10-12 pages) or as short as (4-6 pages) and statements of interest
are also acceptable. These are innovative ideas, which will be presented in
(max. 5min) and followed by a discussion. Copies of all papers will be
available to each participant. The deadline for contributions is 30.06.1999.

Those interested in participating, please submit your paper(s) in electronical
form (TeX, PS, Word-File). You will be notified by
15.07.1999 if your proposal has been accepted.

      Publication:
When we receive enough quality papers it is planned to publish these
within the series 'computer science actual'. Alternatively, we can
publish all contributions in a series within an institute.
