      CONFERENCE FOCUS

      GeoComputation 99 focuses on a range of computational research
      relating to geographic form, dynamics, and interaction. As such, it
      draws from a range of disciplines, including geography, computer
      science, artificial intelligence, mathematics, statistics, remote
      sensing, and visualization.

      ************************************************************************
      TOPICS

      All aspects of geospatial computation will be addressed by
      GeoComputation 99. Specific areas of interest include, but are not
      restricted to:

      * Artificial intelligence (expert systems, neural and fuzzy modeling)
      * Fractals and chaos
      * Visualization, virtual reality, and multimedia
      * Process-based modeling
      * Developing distributed computing environments for geographical data
      processing
      * Quality control techniques for data and models
      * Exploratory spatial data analysis and data mining
      * Integration of geographical tools and techniques, particularly those
      requiring high performance computing
      * Macro-modeling, micro-modeling, and scaling
      * Advances in Geographical Information Systems, particularly in the area
      of spatial analysis
      * Cellular automata
      * Statistical modeling (predictive and descriptive)
      * Data fusion and data compression
      * Geostatistics

      ABSTRACTS

      Extended abstracts, approximating one 8.5 by 11 inch or A4 page, must
      submitted for either oral or poster presentation. They will be reviewed
      for quality and relevance by specialists in the field. Notification of
      acceptance will be electronic if the abstracts were received
      electronically.

      Abstracts should be submitted electronically in ASCII format to either
      geocomp99@... or via the online form at the GeoComputation 99
      web site at http://206.37.29.157/GeoComp99/. If no other method of
      submission is possible, abstracts can be FAXed to GeoComp 99 at
      703-428-8176 or posted to the following address:
