      The scope of UX is limited only by the limits of your imagination, schedule and resources (people and money).
      LIke any practice, you must tailor the application to these project constraints.  If you see an opportunity to add value, you must sell your clients on the idea and capture their imagination with the possibilities. If they really believe UX is only confined to dedicated applications and not to marketing sites or entire campaigns, then you should show them examples. Research on the web. Evidence is everywhere. But first, ask more questions of them and listen carefully to find out what their real objections are. Lack of control? Budget? Schedule? could be anything. If you address the wrong concern, obviously they will not change their minds.
