The New York match will be crucial for
Mexico head coach Jose Manuel de la Torre as it will serve as a key
tune-up for two September Hexagonal CONCACAF World Cup qualifying round
matches against Honduras on September 6, and the United States on
      September 10.
Ivory Coast, under the direction of
former French National Team player Sabri Lamouchi, currently ranks 12th
in the FIFA World Ranking, first among African nations, and is leading
the African World Cup qualifying with three games left to play in the
second round. Ivory Coast has been one of the most dominant African
teams in the last decade, having qualified to the last two FIFA World
Cups. The squad is powered by top international stars Didier Drogba
(Galatasaray), Salomon Kalou (Lille), Gervinho (Arsenal) as well as
      midfielder Yaya Toure (Manchester City).
The August 14 match in the New York area
will be the fourth of Mexico’s annual five-game U.S. tour, now in its
