      A couple of things the FBI site glosses over:

      If you need it notarized or apostilled for the country you're
      adopting from, make sure to include a cover letter with your
      fingerprints asking them to include a 'letter of procedure' stating
      that they DON'T do that. After you receive the results and the
      letter of procedure, you can paperclip it all together with a cover
      letter of your making that says that you swear the attached FBI
      paperwork is original, and you can get that notarized.

      Also, when you mail your prints and cover letter to the FBI, write
      on the outside of the envelope in black marker "for international
      adoption". It'll get processed faster.

      And some general tips:
      Send in 3 fingerprint cards rather than two, just in case they have
      trouble reading them.

      Include a self-addressed, prepaid Fedex envelope.
