- Jul 5, 2005http://www.drivingthefuture.com/dt050702/ about 50 persons,
including Alexandra, passed out leaflets, held signs and tried to
answer dealer lies about why Toyota won't sell the RAV4-EV lease
returns:
1-- the battery is expensive. But that's the buyer's lookout! And
so far, actually, no battery pack has been replaced under warranty.
2-- the RAV4-EV is defective (!!). This of a car that almost never
breaks down! When has Toyota dissed its own product like this!
3-- only has a range of 40 miles (!!). Then how did some come from
Seal Beach, 35 miles away? Actually, the range is 80 to 150 miles,
depending on speed: careless, 80 mph driving can get only 80 miles;
steady 65-75 gets you 100 miles, and careful driving (we get about
1.2 miles for each one percent charge) gets you 120 miles. If you
can slow down to 30 mph, you can get up to 1.5 miles for each
percent.
4-- ?? Waiting for the next lie. Oh, yes, "we don't crush them, we
recycle them" (!!). Well, that is not consistent with the excursion
65 miles to TAMCO, and then back again when they were detected.
Next week at Toyota of Huntington Beach:
