One of the band that performed in the very first edition of globalFEST was NYC's own Forro in the Dark http://forrointhedark.com/, whose weekly Wednesday night dance parties at nublu have become legendary. In between gigging with Thom Yorke, David Byrne and Bebel Gilberto, FITD's Mauro Refosco has somehow found time to record a new album with the band, and they will celebrate the release of their newest album Light a Candle tomorrow night @ nublu. I'm happy to have been asked to dj to open for them. I'll spin before their first set (starting 8:30 pm nublu time) and in between the 10 pm and midnight sets, I'll tagteam with DJ Greg Caz http://www.myspace.com/gregcaz. It's been a while since I've djed at nublu and always a fun, sweaty good time. Hope to see you there.

I'm also proud to be djing for the 3rd consecutive year at the annual gala for Witness, the Human Rights organization founded by Peter Gabriel devoted to using the power of technology and digital media to uncover and prevent human rights abuses. Previous galas have given me a chance to spin on bills with The Roots, Jackson Brown, Vampire Weekend, Lenine and Maracatu NY. This year's gala, hosted by Peter Gabriel and Christine Amanpour, is focused on using video as a tool to combat violence against women. Live performers include Cindy Lauper, Citizen Cope and the Hungry March Band. If you can, please support this extremely worthy cause, and come out for a great party, too. www.witness.org/gala

All three of GlobeSonic Sound System DJ's - me, Fabian Alsultany and Derek Beres - will be back together on Saturday, November 14 at a new party that Fabian and his wife Parashakti are starting, called Illuminate. The party will by at the New York Open Center - more info here: http://www.opencenter.org/illuminate-a-spiritual-dance-club/. We got rained out for our last Pier Party of the season, and as many of you know, Fabian has been facing some personal health challenges http://alsultany32.blogspot.com/, so it's going to be especially powerful for the three of us to be spinning together again. And keep your eyes on this space - you'll be getting news very soon about a new free weekly concert series in Lincoln Center's new visitor space.
