Lo Cor de la Plana @ Symphony Space

Before you come out to the Horned Ball, I highly recommend checking out Lo Co de la Plana, from Marseilles at Symphony Space, presented by World Music Institute.  http://www.worldmusicinstitute.org/event.php?id=793

Their polyphonic vocals and electrifying polyrhythmic percussion made them the surprise hit of globalFEST 2008, earning them the lead review in the NY Times who called them "remarkable...the most striking group at globalFEST."  They will definitely get you in the right mood before you come dancing with GlobeSonic.

Birthday Benefit for Dixon Place's HOT Festival

On Monday night, celebrate the birthday of Scene Downtown impressario Earl Dax as he turns his birthday into a fundraiser for Dixon Place's HOT festival of Queer Performance.  The party is at The Delancey, the former site of Earl's infamous Unisex Salon parties, and is tastefully named "Pussy Faggot" (sorry, Mom....)  You can learn why here: http://www.villagevoice.com/2009-03-25/voice-choices/pussy-faggot/

This allstar performance party features a who's who of the downtown performance scene including Justin Bond, Kenny Melman, Nick Hallett, Sherry Vine, Chris Rael, DJ MondoLucien and more.  Details here: http://www.scenedowntown.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=301&Itemid=86

Advance Tickets $18 / $25 at the door.
