Staff Services Manager:
Hiring Salary: $45,000-60,000/yr, DOE
This position manages the recruitment and staffing program for a 445+ employee Sheriff’s Office. The recruitment and staffing program includes both commissioned and non-commissioned staff to include patrol deputies, detention officers, records clerks, dispatchers, jail technicians, administrative staff, and several other positions. The Staff Services Manager advises Sheriff’s management and employees regarding rules and regulations, policies and procedures, employment status, pay, and leave; provides advice to management in regards to ADA, FMLA, FLSA, and worker’s compensation; coordinates work with other county departments including Risk Management and Human Resources; develops and coordinates effective programs for recruitment, utilization, and retention of employees. Additionally, this position manages one contract polygraph service and supervises the following employees:
- HR Technician
- HR Specialist
- Background Investigators (3 part-time)
The Ada County Sheriff’s Office will experience much growth in the staffing area in the next several years with the expansion of the jail facility. This expansion will add over 50 full-time positions during the next three years.
Preference will be given to applicants who have a college degree in human resources and/or public administration or a related academic discipline. Preference will also be given to applicants with experience in a high volume, fast paced recruitment environment. We are seeking a candidate with excellent communication skills and the ability to work well with others to effect change in a positive and professional manner. Additionally, previous experience supervising and motivating others is preferred.
Police Records Clerk:
Hiring Salary: $9.40/hr.
This full-time position located in the Central Records Section creates official police records for reports, confirms protection orders, no-contact orders and missing persons for Dispatch and other law enforcement agencies, and performs records searches using a variety of computer databases. Ideal candidates must be thorough, accurate and detail-minded. Initial hiring salary is $9.40 per hour, with annual step increases. Positions within the Records Section are subject to shift changes every three months. The closing date is January 21, 2004.
