      Four New Opportunities!

      Thank you for your continued interest in the Ada County Sheriff's Office!  We are announcing four new job openings:

      Inmate Healthcare Supervisor:  This position supervises and manages the inmate health care system within the Ada County Jail.  The incumbent performs all essential functions of a Registered Nurse and supervises other registered nurses along with any other county employees who provide health care services to inmates.  Interested applicants need to have graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, have one year of nursing experience in a public health care setting, and have a current license to practice in the State of Idaho or can be licensed in the State of Idaho.  Entrance pay rate is $26.00-$27.54 per hour.  This position will close on August 15, 2003.

      Registered Nurse:  This position performs professional nursing work consisting of assessments, developing plans of care, and monitoring client physical condition.  Essential functions of this position would include providing general health care to inmates in detention, assisting physicians and mid-level providers, maintaining treatment records, etc.  Interested applicants must have graduated from an accredited School of Nursing, have one year experience in a public health setting, and have a current license to practice in the State of Idaho.  Entrance pay rate is $16.62-$24.00 per hour.  This position will close on August 22, 2003.

      Patrol Secretary:  This position provides clerical support to the Patrol Section, including all reception duties.  Essential functions include typing letters, officer’s reports, memoranda and other materials from clear copy or rough draft; preparing statistical and narrative reports; sorting, indexing, and filing materials; and answering telephone inquiries and directing callers to the appropriate division.  All work done must be with a high degree of completeness and accuracy. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have a high school diploma or GED.  Preference will be given to those who have successfully completed a course of study at a business school or equivalent.  Previous clerical work experience involving high level of typing also preferred.  Entrance pay rate is $9.50 - $10.50 per hour.  This position will close on August 15, 2003. 

      Reserve Deputy:  This voluntary, commissioned position provides law enforcement duties for Ada County citizens.  Reserve Deputies donate their time to assist the department by working on a regular basis both in the jail and patrol.  Upon completion of the Reserve Academy, Reserve Deputies are required to a commitment of a minimum of (10) hours plus (1) meeting per month.  The Reserve Academy is scheduled from November 11, 2003 - May 10, 2003.  A specific class schedule is still being finalized, but in general classes will be held two weekday evenings and occasional Saturdays.   Candidates must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED and be able to pass the POST physical agility test during the initial testing process.  This position will close on August 22, 2003.
