Just finished this book. It was very good as it presents an excellent picture of the dark days for the Colonials as Washington was indecisive and made bad decisions. But what makes Washington stand out was his perseverance. He learned from his mistakes and was good at retreating with equipment and men numbered at 7,000. He managed to win 2 important battles, Trenton & Princeton at the end of the year by surprising the British in awful weather. He was desperate as the soldiers enlistment was up. The Continental Congress had fled Philadelphia and could not even have a quorum. Thomas Jefferson had fled back to Virginia. The British thought the independents were beaten. Little did they know of coming events.
