      Breaking News

(11-15) 13:59 PST -- Altamont Commuter Express Authority officials
report that no one was injured in a collision between a San Jose-
bound ACE train and a big rig at about 7:45 a.m. today in Alameda
      County.

Brian Schmidt, director of the transit company, said the cause of the
accident is still under investigation and passengers are being moved
to buses, while the Livermore police assess the situation.

Luckily, Schmidt said, that was the last train of the morning
commute, so no other Bay Area-bound trains will be affected and the
transit authority plans to have the evening commute trains run on a
      regular schedule today.

Schmidt said the collision, which involved the No. 5 ACE train from
Lathrop in San Joaquin County to San Jose, occurred near Stanley
Boulevard and El Charro Road between the cities of Livermore and
      Pleasanton.

Schmidt said there is some damage to the front car of the train.
