Re: Saw II
- It really should come as no surprise, that Saw 2 turned out to be a
hit. It is the long awaited sequel to a sleeper cult hit. As the
article says, the promotions stresses blood, horror and thrills. And
it was released for Halloween. It is like starving a pack of dogs for
a year and then throwing them an old shoe - they will go frenzy over it.
A similar thing recently happend in Denmark, actually happend twice
this year so far, where, speaking of the most recent incident, a
remake of a classic Danish family film, "Far til Fire" (Dad of four),
was trashed by critics, yet was seen by more than 250,000 guests in
two weeks. Why? Because it had premiere during a school vacation and
because it was a Danish childrens film.
Just like starving dogs will fight over and eat an old shoe, so will
audiences flock to the cinema for horror during Halloween, cute family
films during Xmas and mega blockbusters during summer. Its pure mob
