      Yaoi-Con 2003
      October 17-19, 2003
      San Francisco, CA
      ~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Less than three months are left until Yaoi-Con 2003, and all the
preparations are heating up! Check out this steamy news for July:

      THE HEATWAVE STARTS AT OTAKON!

The temperature will start to rise at Otakon 2003 in Baltimore,
Maryland, Aug. 8-10. Our very own PR maven April will be hosting the
Yowza! Yaoi Panel on Friday, August 8 from midnight - 1 A.M. Check
your Otakon schedule for the location, or keep your eyes peeled for
flyers at the con. Bring your fan and an icy beverage -- official
Yaoi-Con bishie Shiki will be there to fog up your sunglasses. Drop
in for yaoi talk, to hook up with other fans, and for the chance to
win a door prize! For more information about Otakon, see 1.

GETTING INVOLVED WITH YAOI-CON: DON'T SWEAT IT!

So, you wrote a paper on the history of homosexuality in Samurai
culture, or maybe you're an experienced doujinshi self-publisher.
You're a natural to run a panel at Yaoi-Con! You don't even need to
be an expert; anything and everything you might want to talk about
with yaoi fans is eligible to have a panel. Don't sweat it; all you
need is a little organization, a great topic, and a completed panel
      application ( http://www.yaoicon.com/panels.htm ). Applications are
      due by August 17.

Or, maybe you're a fan artist looking to offer walk-by commissions.
Maybe you've got some original erotic art you'd like to display.
Artist's Alley is the place for you! You can offer commissions,
prints of your own work, or at-con artwork in your own little space
for as long as you can spare to occupy it. See
http://www.yaoicon.com/artists_alley.htm for details on how you can
      get involved.

And if you're interested in helping us out at the con, drop us a
      line at volunteers@...!

A HIGH-PRESSURE FRONT MOVES THROUGH: THE MUSIC VIDEO CONTEST!
Competition is heating up for the Yaoi-Con Anime Music Video
contest, now accepting submissions online. The theme this year
is "All's Fair In Love and Yaoi." If you've got a great concept,
first check out the rules at http://www.yaoicon.com/amv_rules.htm.
If you've got your angsty, sexy, silly, or sappy entry ready to go,
you can now visit http://contest.otakuvideo.com/ (enter the User
Site link) to submit your creation online. The deadline is August 31.

DOUJINSHI ARTISTS TURN UP THE HEAT

As if it weren't hot enough, the Yaoi-Con doujinshi anthology
project has added a new artist. His -- yes, his! -- name is Moon,
and he'll be adding a Weiss Kreuz contribution to the project. You
can see all of the artists lined up along with a small sample of the
work of each on our anthology project page:
      http://www.yaoicon.com/artists_portfolio.htm .

IS IT GETTIN' HOT IN HERE? MUST BE YAOI-CON CREEPING UP!

Although October and cool fall weather may seem an eternity away,
Yaoi-Con is closer than you may think! Pre-registration is still
open until September 18. Register now to take advantage of the $50
rate, because it'll be $60 to register at the door. Visit
http://www.yaoicon.com/registration.htm for everything you need to
      know about registering.

Once you're registered, be sure to make your reservation to stay at
the Renaissance Parc 55, the official con hotel. Remember, everyone
staying at the con hotel gets a special Early Bird Pass to the
Dealer's Room! See http://www.yaoicon.com/hotel.htm for details.

Now that you're all hot under the collar to get to Yaoi-Con, it's
time to hook up with other attendees looking for roommates, rides
and all kinds of other chat about the con. We've two ways for you to
      keep in touch:

      Open chat Yahoo!Group: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/yaoicon_chat
      Open posting LiveJournal Community:
      http://www.livejournal.com/community/yaoicon_chat/
