RESPONSE: If you really like to eat chocolate, then how hard is it
to "discipline" yourself to put a piece of chocolate in your mouth,
chew it, and savor the flavor? How do you force yourself to do this?
Or, DO you force yourself to eat the chocolate? Do you discipline
yourself to eat the chocolate? Or, is it true that you do
not "discipline" yourself to eat chocolate. Maybe you eat it solely
because you like it, because it has become a habit that you enjoy
doing, and that you eat a little piece of chocolate whenever it's
What if meditation were like chocolate? What if you really liked
meditation as much as chocolate (or whatever)? Then,
would "discipline" be an issue? Would you have to train yourself in
this "discipline"? Or, would you just do it because it is something
you like, a habit that you naturally do, often?
