Re: [Y-Mail] Re: Yahoo! Mail Classic will phase out next year
Yup, browser tabs. I go through my inbox, right click/open in new tab on the emails I want to read, and while they are opening I finish going through my inbox. Then I right click/open in new tab the next folder I want to check, close the inbox tab and start reading my mail, one by one. If there is a lag time with emails opening, no big deal because I am working in my original tab while the other tabs are opening.
I don't get distracted by something in an email while I am sorting through a folder. I don't have to go back and forth between my inbox and emails that open in the current window because that is what New Yahoo Mail does. (Bonehead! Bonehead! Bonehead!) I simply move along, doing what I want, in the order I want, when I want.
Unfortunately, the error messages on this particular account are unending. Search is virtually worthless. Even when it works, finding the emails I want to look at (very iffy) I usually can't open the results. At least the open in new tabs seems to be working a little better. But given the problems I am having with this account, I would be unlikely to open a new Yahoo account for fear the problems would pop up again. I have had multiple communications with the folks at Yahoo mail but they have not solved the problem. (One actually said I had too many emails, in my unlimited mail account!)
At any rate, when the error messages get to be too much, I switch to new Y-mail and sometimes I can do what I need to do there. But that alone should tell you something. I actually prefer the (for me) bug laden Classic Mail over the new Y-mail.
Needless to say, I just can't wait for "new improvements"

I puzzled over this as well, but I think he means new browser tabs, not new tabs within the web application itself.-CraigOn Nov 18, 2010, at 12:13 PM, Kenneth Ayers wrote:
Your description doesn't sound like Yahoo! Mail Classic. Opening multiple emails in new tabs and opening multiple folders? That's Yahoo! All-New-Mail, I think. I.e., the version released after Classic and before Beta.

I hate new Yahoo mail a lot. Classic acts exactly the way I want it to (when it works), including being able to open multiple emails in new tabs without it bouncing me to the newly opened email. (Who thought up that bonehead idea?) I can also open new folders without closing others.
