I read my Yahoo, Google and Hotmail emails in Windows Live Mail Desktop,
and before that Outlook Express which WLM supersedes.
In each case there is the traditional email pane that one can use to read
any one Inbox or all of them together.
Click the main page View tab, and on the drop-down menu click View by
Conversation to give you a thread view. That view can still be sorted by
any of your columns - To, From, Flagged, Sent Date, Received Date, Subject,
Account, whatever, with different layouts resulting, and you just pick the
one that suits the occasion.
Once your pane has quite a few messages in it, you can get lost - the
threading means that a message may be way out of sight. So click View by
Conversation again for the traditional view, and Sort it to suit the
