I finally got this build (1.05) this morning (farm 308), and the
implementation of the sort order in the beta is half a loaf as
compared with the one in Classic.

Yes, the sort order is now remembered across interface loads, and this
is very good since the interface often needs to be reloaded because of
the many bugs in the beta. Unfortunately, the setting is global, for
all folders, not by folder as it was in Classic. This is a fairly
minor irritation for me; for most of my folders, which contain
filtered incoming mail, I prefer FIFO, which is now preserved instead
of defaulting to LIFO. I had been in the habit in Classic of having
Sent and my filing folders as LIFO, but I can live with them as FIFO.
Others may have more difficulty not having folder level option
      preservation.

(Sass, I know Ryan calls it the All-New Mail, but it is still the beta
to me while bugs reported as long ago as version 0.3 persist in the
      current version.)
