      I don't necessarily want the defunct email addresses back - if those accounts are closed for some reason then - yes - I suppose its no use keeping them in my contact list. However I DO want the other information back that was linked to them. CJB.

      There's no way we can know that. Yahoo surely has a very long list of issues to deal with, so deleting contacts of inactive accounts.... which is apparently their own policy.... isn't #1 on their list. They very likely won't do anything about it unless tons of users complain. Even then, you likely won't get those contacts back.
