Can XSL change a string in line?
- Hi everyone,
It is so nice to have these groups available. In advance I want to
thank you for taking the time to read my question.
The program I am writing in VB extensively uses a DOM object. At one
point of the XML I need to insert a string describing a particular
item. 99% of the time it is a literal string, but sometimes it has
HTML mixed into it. When it is inserted into the node as a string,
the object automatically escapes the HTML with special characters.
Later in the program I use XSL to parse through this XML and I want
to unescape these characters in line to protect myself from doing a
universal replace. So my question is as follows, is there a way for
XSL to change parts of a string for a particular node?
There are other alternatives to inserting as string and instead
creating a new node and inserting as XML, but that is not an ideal
situation because the HTML may not be well formed and that will cause
an error. A univeral replace done in the ASP is also possible, but
as I described above, the idea is to do it inline in the XSL.
Thanks in advance for your help.
