      Subject: [XSL-FO] Why Formatting "Objects"?

I apologise if the answer to that question is obvious to everybody but me,
but on several occasions I have wondered why Formatting "Objects" rather
than, for example, "Formatting Elements" or even "Formatting Nodes".

And, for that matter, why "XSL-FO" why not just "XSL-F" a la XSLT?

Maybe these are stupid questions to which the answer is "Just because". :)

Considering that,at some point in late 1997 (I think), we were within a vote
or two of being devotees of "MAGMA" rather than "XML" (if remember correctly)
      maybe XSL-FO "just is".

But if anyone does know why the name XSL-FO was chosen I would be interested
      to be educated.
