The following use of two co-located absolutely positioned block containers
appears to work with RenderX: I see both strings of text written together.

Perhaps you could flow your background form into a page-sized absolutely
positioned block container, and then flow your foreground text into an
identically located, page-sized absolutely positioned block container.

      I hope this helps.

Is there any way to flow text around absolutely positioned block containers?
I'm trying to layout a 2-column page with text flowing around
        absolutely-positioned images.

If that is available in XSLFO 1.0, then I don't know how to do it ... I
think we will see that when we see complex page geometry in a future
revision, and that it won't be available with the current simple page geometry.

I would *love* to be proved wrong here.
