I beg to disagree with this kind of approach to generalize and slander a whole nation or people.  Bad people are in every nation and society.  This kind of support for the racist remarks only perpetuates the stereotyping which we all want to get away from.  Regards,

      Haseeb

I am a Pakistani and a pathan but can not deny what Pat Marsden has said after hearing what Arsal Khan has done to innocent Farah. Chopping the body after killing her is height of cruelty. This is not the only instance, everyday in Pakistan fuedal lords do the same to their mazarayeens.

I wish we had capital punishments in our laws in Canada. I am for capital punishment for child killers. Couple of years back I had raised this issue in one of the advisory policy meetings at Queens Park.

      Regards.

      Shakil Khan.

      Apology for 'racist' slur
FAN host draws fire from listeners
Remark linked to Khan trial verdict

      CHRIS ZELKOVICH
      SPORTS MEDIA COLUMNIST

FAN 590 morning host Pat Marsden is in hot water after saying on the
air that people from Pakistan "don't respect life like we do."

Several listeners filed complaints with the all-sports radio station,
among them Dr. Naveed Mohammad, who wrote that he was protesting
Marsden's "irresponsible and frankly racist comments" from last
      Friday.

"I have been in Canada since 1974 and have listened to Pat Marsden
for a long time," Mohammad said yesterday. "Never did I think he
      would say something like this."

Mohammad called for an on-air apology and urged the FAN's parent
company, Rogers Communications, to fire Marsden.

Marsden did not return calls, but his agent said the veteran
broadcaster would issue an apology this morning.

"We hope it will be sufficient to address what was said," said
      Elliott Kerr.

He did not believe Marsden, 67, would lose his job.

FAN program director Nelson Millman would only say, "We received a
complaint about what was said on the air. We are investigating and
will act on it appropriately at the right time."

The remarks in question came during a discussion with host Gord
Stellick and sports director Doug Farraway at 6:14 a.m. Friday.

After a discussion on the NHL playoffs, Marsden said he was happy to
hear there were guilty verdicts in the murder of 5-year-old Farah
Khan. Her Pakistan-born parents were sentenced to life terms.

"Who could do this to a 5-year-old?" Farraway asked. "What mindset is
      that?"

Marsden replied! , "You know what. This is another factor in what
drives me crazy about the people from that part of the world. They
don't respect life like we do."

Farraway: "SOME people from that part of the world."

Marsden: "Yeah, well I mean they go out."

Farraway: "We have some in our own society, we've bred our own mass
murderers in our North American society."

Marsden: "We have, but we haven't bred too many people that will go
out and suicide bomb somebody else."

Farraway: "Well, that's a different matter."

Marsden: "No no, but this is the part of the world I'm talking about.
You can defend everybody and open every border."

Farraway: "You can't slander that part of the world."

      Marsden: "Yes, I can."

When Stellick interrupted to say much of the news was bad and it was
a good thing "sports has come to the forefront," Marsden
      offered, "Particularly the Blue Jays."

The Marsden controversy! comes a day after Ottawa's Team 1200 fired
announcer Don Romani for suggesting that Leaf forward Tie Domi had
      assaulted his wife.

It's not Marsden's first brush with listener complaints. In 1990, the
Bread Not Circuses Coalition sought damages from CFRB after Marsden
told a spokeswoman, on the air, to "go home and have a baby" rather
than continue her opposition to Toronto's Olympics bid.
