Group Description

WILD (Writers In Literary Discussion) promotes all forms of creativity. WILD is for all people: students and non-students. Many former students stay with the organization and participate or watch its activities. WILD is the oldest student organization of South Texas College, and, therefore, is the original drama club, the original art club, the original music club, the original creative writing club, and the original film club. WILD first began in October, 1995 with public poetry readings and published its first issue of its literary journal, "WILD's The Writers' Block" in Spring, 1996. WILD supports those who wish to express themselves creatively in writing, dramatic performances, and film. The activities of WILD include poetry readings, haunted house presentations, live drama, and screenings of original student-produced films. Visitors are welcome to attend any WILD meeting. WILD’s film productions and drama productions showcase original work performed on the screen and stage of STC. "WILD's The Writers' Block" is a literary magazine, often filled with humor, and is the publication of WILD, which appears at the beginning of each long semester. This publication is in the collection of Special Collections of the University of Texas -- Pan American and this magazine is distributed to various sites through out the Valley, Austin, San Antonio, and more.
