Conference on Sustainable Transport in Sensitive Areas 27/28 October Vienna
T&E together with Austrian partners will organise a two day conference on ‘Sustainable Freight Transport in Sensitive Areas’ on 27/28 October in Vienna. Representatives of the European Commission, several national and regional ministries, industry, NGOs and trade unions will give presentations. There will also be a field visit at an innovative intermodal terminal.

GEHL Architects -Urban Quality Consultants from Copenhagen, have
carried out at survey on Public Spaces/Public Life in central London
commisioned by Transport for London and Central London Partnership.
This study is part of the overall Congestion Charge strategy, the idea
being that now when traffic has been reduced by almost 20%, this extra
capacity should imediately be given to other roadspace users i.e.
pedestrians and bicyclists. (Both groups are presently offered appaling
conditions in London)
The study "Towards a fine City for People" (London 2004) was launched
by Mayor Ken Livingstone and Lord Richard Rogers of Riverside (chief
advisor on Architecture and Urbanism) on 22 june 2004.
