      BLOCKHEADS PRESS RELEASE

TWO VERY SPECIAL SHOWS WITH THE BLOCKHEADS

      Featuring
Chaz Jankel (guitar / keyboards / vocal)
      John Turnbull (guitar / vocal)
      Mick Gallagher (keyboards)
      Norman Watt-Roy (bass)
      Gilad Atzmon (saxophone)
      Dylan Howe (drums)

The Blockheads, for many years the backing combo of the late Ian Dury,
play a brace of concerts in March 2001 to support the release of the
long-awaited Ian Dury tribute album, 'Brand New Boots and Panties". The
      shows are:

Thursday 22ND MARCH: BRIGHTON, THE CONCORDE 2 (with support from
      Wreckless Eric)

Friday 23rd March: LONDON, THE NEW MEAN FIDDLER, CHARING CROSS ROAD, WC2
(Mark Lamarr and Phill Jupitus will be doing a song each)

'Brand New Boots and Panties" features The Blockheads backing guest
vocalists including Robbie Williams, Paul McCartney, Cerys Matthews and
Sinead O'Connor, and it is hoped that the album will be available to
coincide with the shows. There is a strong possibility that several
special guests will be joining the band for these concerts; whatever, as
committed fans will assert, a Blockheads performance is not to be
missed. The band are also applying the finishing touches to the last
studio recordings made with Ian Dury, for release later this year, AND
THE BAND'S OWN DEBUT ALBUM IS BEING PREPARED FOR A DECEMBER 2001
      RELEASE.

      'BRAND NEW BOOTS AND PANTIES'
      Various Artists

A re-recording of the original album by IAN DURY AND THE BLOCKHEADS
      RELEASE DATE: 9 APRIL 2001

Ian Dury was the dog's bollocks and 'New Boots And Panties' was the
cat's pyjamas. 'Live At Lourdes' that album was originally going to be
called, a Lazarus blast by King Crip [who'd been the singer with Kilburn
And The High Roads and then Ian Dury And The Kilburns].

'Durex' he called himself and he was a Flash Harry handsome bastard
bathed in humility and popping the bubbles of pomposity, Mr. Love Pants
and his lyrics as sharp as the creases in Duke Ellington's trousers,
this Upminster Minister with Polio Folio, Royal College of Art to rock
'n' roll collage of Tart, silver razor-blade earring and eye make-up
      just so.

'New Boots And Panties' ... good Lord, you could record this album again
maybe a quarter of a century after it first came out in 1977, record it
again with all manner of incredible guest artists backed by Ian's
amazing band The Blockheads. Fuck, yeah. A celebration of a classic
      piece of work.

And Ian, he'd be well chuffed. "Result!" he'd go, laughing, the Pearly
King chuckling from the Pearly Gates. Yes, Ian. Result.

And you could call it 'Brand New Boots And Panties'.
