      Hello Laura,
I am the volunteer director of Dane County Friends of Ferals, and I was SO inspired by your story! I am familiar with Buffalo County, and I know exactly what struggles and challenges you face every day :o) Dane County Friends of Ferals was formed about 4 years ago, beginning in the garage of a vet who volunteered at the county humane shelter and saw that any unfriendly cat was automatically euthanized by the shelter. These cats were given no chance to live and there was no feral cat program in existance. We are entirely volunteer run, with no county or city support, and just last year became a 501 c3 organization. We are only a handful of volunteers, and because we all work full time at other jobs, we have not had the man power to do much fundraising. I am very impressed with your efforts and would be interested in talking with you more about how you manage it! You can email me directly at friendsofferals@.... If interested, we also have a web site at www.daneferals.org.
Thank you again for your email - it gives all of us in rescue hope and assurance that we are not in this alone!
      Alison Colby
Director - Dane County Friends of Ferals

        Hello Alison :O)

It is my pleasure to talk to you. Actually you may be quite surprised
to know I modeled our Mid-West after Dane County Friends of Feral's
and Tabby Town Cat Rescue in Westby Wisconsin. In fact you inspired me
along with Marie Glover of Tabby Town and Alley Cat Allies, Jessica
        Froman and Plara Felgate.

I searched the web day after day and night after night to find help in
saving our feral cats and vividly recall the impact I felt when
reading about Susan the vet and the garage and now so moved after
reading the story of Thomas and being so sad for your loss. I always
remember the photo of Thomas and Susan Krebsbach so happy together.
There's no way to miss those kind hearts.

I've included Dane County Friends of Feral's in every media event as
well as Alley cat allies and Tabby town cat rescue as we pay great
tribute to you all. Your kindness has shown through without a doubt.
We respect the great things you all have accomplished.

As for our path, we struggle everyday with finding volunteers and
energy levels becoming depleted and we just forge on. We have just
begun and everything is and experiment. Our fundraising is slow and
sometimes just one on one with my husband having tremendous sales
        experience and a wonderful personality.

Being a type a personality sometimes is an asset but only sometimes.
We had Allie Cat Allies send a letter to our mayor asking for a
moratorium on killing cats, for some reason the mayor was defensive
but when we offered them an alternative they excepted and offered to
pay $40.00 to $55.00 per cat with a $2000 cap this year. Not so many
cats but some of the care givers will pay as well and what we can come
up with in donations along the way. We will ad grants as we grow and
        more fundraising events and annuals.

Everyday I get agitated because of set backs and I think we are not
going fast enough but then my husband says it will come, just be
        patient.

With this balance we all continue together and hope to win the hearts
        of our community.

Thank you for being their Alison. We think so much of Dane County
Friend of Feral's and you and Thomas are why we're here. Sincerely
Laurra of Mid West Feral Cat & Animal Rescue Inc,.
