1921Failure of one-child policy
- Feb 27 1:17 PMEven China, with an "official" one-child policy is 162nd out of 224 countries in its fertility rate. It's above countries such as Russia where procreation is encouraged. It's above Canada, above Germany, above broke Greece,, above Catholic Spain, above Islamic Qatar...
It is below the United States, with it's 13.66 fertility rate (and super-consumers), and above Ireland at 15.5 in which abortion is outright criminal to save the life of a mother. E.g., the Indian woman who died while having a micarrrage, denied an abortion even after 3 days. http://www.cnn.com/2012/11/14/world/europe/ireland-abortion-controversy/index.html
It's not just education. It's not just about wealth or poverty. It's not just about religion. It's not even about laws.
Why? Again, it's that social norms and pressures outweigh even laws! Unpopular laws can nearly always be averted. Education and economic status and even religion can be outweighed by cultural norms.
So, the real question is how can cultural norms be changed? Can they change in time to make any difference in the upcoming involentary human extinction?
