      Hi Guys,

Great choice getting your Wetas! Big thanks to Jon for coordinating
      everything.

Im on my way up to the Genoa Show end of September and have sceduled a
stop in SanFran September 26-30 to see how you guys are getting on and
how we can help you out.

How are you all placed to have some racing/meet up? It would be great
      to meet some of you.

      Cheers,

        Chris et al,
Glad to see you will be coming out on your way to Europe. Id love to get together and get your thoughts on racing and fleet development. Im guessing that unofficially the 6 boats (hopefully 7) in the SF area are the first OD fleet in the US. Of course to make it official well have to put 5 boats on the line for a big race. Luckily, RYC is having the Totally Dinghy Regatta on September 20-21 and it is a perfect opportunity to promote the boat. The regatta typically draws 150+ boats and I know we can make a strong showing (right guys?). Let us know what your schedule is once everything is firmed up and hopefully a bunch us can get together and have a beer, maybe go for a sail.

And since you mentioned racing. Greg Mitchell and I raced our Wetas last night in one of RYCs friendly Wednesday night beer can races. Conditions were typically for this time of year - windy (12-18) and choppy with lots of current and the occasional wind hole. We were fortunate enough to have three International Canoes in our start with some pretty good drivers (ex national champ, a rising star, and our dinghy sailing instructor). I forgot when our start was, and I didnt have a watch anyway, so I spotted the ICs and Greg/James a couple of minutes at the start. Since Greg was sailing with two and I was solo, I figured Id get him on the downwind leg. I had no hope of catching the uber-fast ICs.
The ICs rounded the weather mark first (of course) with Greg and me several minutes behind. Im please to report that by the time we finished I had caught and passed two of the ICs and finished a close second behind the lead IC. No other boats were even close. Not a bad first showing. After the race we didnt hear the hey, look a boat with training wheels comments we had heard before the race. Big Fun!
