Hello .... The Service for my Uncle Glenn Hinkle will be this week on Friday, May 10, 2013. There will have a graveside service, followed by a time to meet with family and friends at the American Legion in Grand Haven.

Glenn Hinkle, Jr., age 83, passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013, in Leesburg, Florida. He was born on April 24, 1929. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Hinkle, Sr. and Jennie (Wagner) Hinkle, his sister, ...Mary Pendell Treat, brothers-in-law, Howard Pendell and Orie Meyer, and a niece, Carol Meyer. Glenn will be lovingly remembered by his children, Kaye (Jeff) Hooker of Hudsonville, and Jeff (Sue Tompkins) Hinkle of Grand Haven, grandchildren Jennifer (Alex) Moore and David Tompkins, and a sister, Eleanor Meyer of Ferrysburg, with whom he was the best of friends. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their families. Glenn served his country in the Army Air Corps (Air Force) in the 1940’s, serving primarily in Alaska, working on radar installations that were set up in the 1950’s. Glenn also was an amateur radio operator for many decades, operating under the call letters WA8MTJ. Glenn spent his life enjoying hunting, fishing and traveling. He was an electrician with Oldbergs in Grand Haven for many years. Following retirement, Glenn spent winters at his place in Leesburg, Florida. There will be a graveside service, with military honors, at the Spring Lake Cemetery (17181 N. Fruitport Rd. on the west side of the road) on Friday, May 10, 2013 at 11:00 a.m., followed by a luncheon at the American Legion Post 28 (700 Harbor Ave.) in Grand Haven. The Family looks forward to meeting with friends and family at the Graveside Service, the luncheon, or both. In honor of Glenn, contributions may be made to the Keep the Lights On project for the Grand Haven Lighthouse. The family is being served by Klaassen Funeral Home of Grand Haven.
