The Muskegon County Emergency Communication Services, a local non

profit amateur radio group involved in providing emergency

communications has awarded, James Wolffis, KD8DLQ, the "Al Ronning

Outstanding Service Award". The award is given each December to a

member of the group that has gone above and beyond in service to this

organization. Recognition is given in memory of Al Ronning, K8AER, who

was a member of the group that died in an automobile crash in

2006. "Ronning was an inspiration to other members of the group in his

tireless effort towards public service" according to James Duram,

Emergency Coordinator for amateur radio in Muskegon County.

Duram presented the plaque at their December meeting.
